Bath Schoolchildren’s Isle of Wight Residential Visit

Year 5 pupils from Weston All Saints Primary School (WASPS) in Bath enjoyed a three-day, two-night long residential visit to the Isle of Wight last month (June). The trip was closely linked to the student’s recent studies in geography, including coastal erosion.
On the first day they climbed to the Tennyson Monument, at the highest point of Tennyson Down and then explored Totland Bay. The following day they walked through Headon Warren, an area of heathland and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), before reaching the beach for views across to the iconic Needles, which the island is famous for.
The children were thrilled to experience the chairlift from Alum Bay and had fun at the Needles Pleasure Par, followed by fish and chips.
On their final day, WASPS pupils walked through Fort Victoria Country Park before following the coast to Yarmouth, and taking part in beach-combing activities, for their return visit by ferry to the mainland
